Setting sun shines on snow-laden pines

Setting sun shines on snow-laden pines.

We had a grey sky all day with only glimpses of blue at noon. As the sun was about to set, a gap between the ground and the clouds let the sun shine in horizontally. To take this picture I had to do some climbing to get a better vantage point - it sure was worth it.

How the photo was made

The photo is kind of HDR. I used the regular camera app on the iPhone4 to take two photos. A bright foreground picture of the pine-trees and a slightly darker version where the sun had a nice red lensflare and deeper tone. Using AutoStitch I created a composite HDR which I edited quite a bit with both Photo-fx and Filterstorm. Cropping and the "last touch" was made with Instagram and the filter Hefe.
